Dr. T.A. Bertram

Thomas Aimers Bertram, the fifth child of John and Elizabeth Bertram, was born in Dundas in 1864. He became a medical doctor and for the many years he practiced in Dundas, he was highly regarded and much loved. He was also the town’s  Medical Officer of Health for over forty years.

T.A. (as he was known), was very athletic and loved the outdoors. These passions led him to a successful career in amateur sports including shooting and curling. T.A. also owned “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” on an island on Canoe Lake in Algonquin  Park where he and his family spent many happy summers.

In 1888 Dr. Bertram married Jean Bertram Knowles. They had one son, James Knowles Bertram, who was killed at the Somme during World War I.

Dr. Bertram died in 1951.
