John and Elizabeth Bertram arrive in Canada

John and Elizabeth Bertram sailed on the ship “Clutha” which departed from Glasgow on June 14, 1852, bound for Montreal. The price for two “intermediate passengers” was eight pounds. The Bertrams’ provisions supplied by the Master of the Ship, as required by law, included water, bread or biscuits, flour, oatmeal, rice, sugar, and tea. This was intended to be in addition to any provisions the passengers may themselves bring.
